Tollywood's rising star Rana Daggubati, grandson of actor-turned-producer D. Rama Naidu and son of producer Suresh Babu, will be the second hero in producer-director Rohan Sippy’s forthcoming Hindi remake of Hollywood’s Traffic, it is confirmed through Rana’s recently launched website on Saturday.
The role was initially offered to Farhan Akhtar and Emraan Hashmi. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role. "It is the character of a Goan musician. When Rohan saw Rana’s picture, he was impressed by how Goan the Telugu actor looked. The Sippys saw Rana’s Leader and knew he was right. The role is as powerful as Abhishek’s," a source said.
Rana would now be another South Indian actor trying his luck in Hindi films after the likes of Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi and Rana’s uncle Venkatesh. Interestingly, Rana would be the second South Indian star to make his debut in Hindi in 2010. Ram Gopal Varma is launching Tamil actor Suriya in Rakta Charitra.
