This post is contributed by Ram from Chennai. His own opinions are presented.
I might be late in expressing my views on Chiru. Its almost time that the day is going to end. But the expression is important than timing.
I switched on the TV , someone said that Prabhu Deva's interview is coming on NDTV (its during Shankardada Zindabad release) watching curiously. I thought it would be nice if the anchor ask Prabhu Deva who is the best dancer in India. Surprisingly, the anchor asked "Sir, Who is the best dancer in India ? Hrithik or Chiranjeevi?". It was like so obvious for Prabhu Deva to answer "Its Chiranjeevi garu". I was very happy to hear such great words.
Its been I dont know when I became a fan of Chiru. I think I became flat for his dances and fights. My parents still say that when we went to Mutha Mestri I kicked my mama when the police beats chiru. Slowly I grew up and simultaneously Chiru's craze too increased. It was a treat watching his mass movies. The involvement in the characters whatever he does was amazing.
I still remember my 4th or 5th birthday function when I danced like anything for Bangaru Kodipetta.Even now when I saw it in Magadheera I felt that 30 seconds of Chiru's dance is enough to show that no one can ever match with Chiru in dance.
I think he is in his peak with hits like Gang Leader, Gharana Mogudu, Rowdy alludu. I was just hysterical. I am very young that I could not remember many things. But for the first time I hated a Chiru movie. Its Alluda Majaaka. I could not understand why Chiru accepted such a movie. A gap came after Rikshavodu another disappointment. After a year or two Chiru started his second innings with Hitler. Hits continued with Iddaru Mitrulu, Master, Chudalani Undhi, Annaya. But Mrugaraju was an utter disappointment. With a gap Chiru came as Indra. It once again showed the stamina of Chiru creating huge records. Tagore beat Indra.
Now he came into politics. As usually I thought Chiru would become CM. But its not that easy. As Chiru said he did not become Megastar in a single night. He worked hard. He stood no.1. He became one of the biggest stars in Indian film industry. I hope same goes with politics. I think Chiru is not a person with give up attitude. He works hard. Though PRP did not get many seats. They got the important 17% vote share approximately 70 lakh votes. Recent assembly meetings are making Chiru closer to Public. I hope he will perfom well in Politics too.
Some of the legendary movies like Rudra Veena, Swayam Krushi, Apathbandhavudu, Subhalekha, Challenge, Khaidi, Tagore won National awards, filmfare awards , nandi and so on.
I am proud to say that he was the first south indian hero to be invited to Oscar awards function. Once there was an article in India Today that Is Chiru bigger than Bacchan? Legendary director Balachander once said Chiru was a combination of Kamal and Rajini.
Now that Chiru went into politics I am very sad that he is not going to do any movies. But no as long as there is telugu cinema Chiru will be there. You cannot imagine telugu cinema without Chiru. He changed the entire meaning of cinema with his dances and stunts. Telugu Industry owes a lot to this great being.

I sincerely wish my Megastar a very very happy birthday on his 54th Birthday. May god bless him and make him act in movies in the future.
Without Chiru I cannot imagine my life. I cannot be me without him.
20 years of inspiration
20 years of entertainment

Mallanna (2009) Telugu Movie Review by Greatandhra |
Film: Mallanna
Rating: 1.75/5
Cast: Vikram, Shriya, Krishna, Prabhu, Brahmanandam, Mumaith Khan etc
Camera: NK Ekambaram
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Direction: Susi Ganesan
Producer: Kalaipuli S Thanu
Released On: 21st Aug 2009
The much publicized ‘Mallanna’ arrived today. The openings are very strong and let us see if the maker made it right or wrong.
Story:
Mallanna (Vikram) is a CBI officer who stands like Robinhood in disguise for suffering poor people. He forms a secret group and makes them collect the wish-list of poor devotees at Srisailam Mallanna temple those get tied regularly to a tree in temple premises. The wishes range from a need of Rs 10000 for poor bride’s marriage to a bigger thing like injustice from government officials. Mallanna pilfers the black money from rotten rich people with his intelligence and fulfils the needs of poor people in the disguise of God Mallanna. People believe that God Mallanna is answering their wishes.
Subbalakshmi (Shriya) is the daughter of a cruel and rich man (Asish Vidyarthi) and she become love interest of Mallanna. She has the shades of both good and bad.
An intelligence officer (Prabhu) comes into the scene to make people develop faith in system but not Mallanna. He works to prove that Mallanna is not a God but a human being. Finally, will he succeed in that attempt? That forms rest of the story.
Performances:
Vikram:
He is a perfect actor but the director exploited him in wrong way with Cock get up. He is ok with lady’s get up but the movements he delivered are very bad. The best part in him with respect to this film is singing his own songs. That’s matchless indeed. He proved more than a professional playback singer.
Shriya:
She enthralled with ‘Allegra…’. All these days people know the expression ‘shake it like Shakira’. But now after watching this song, one has to say ‘Shake it like Shriya’. Rest is ok.
Susi Ganesan:
He appeared in a not so important role chasing the protagonist till Mexico.
Krishna:
He is ok as CBI Joint Director
Prabhu:
He is too heavy to watch on big screen. His body language is not convincing to be an active intelligence officer.
Choreography:
* Saroj Khan’s choreography given to the number ‘Dil ye be-chen hai…’ in Taal is directly copied here for ‘Allegra…’
* Shriya’s facial movements given for ‘Excuse me Mr Mallanna’ song are interesting
* ‘Mambo Mamiya’ and ‘Meow Meow’ also dealt reasonably well
* ‘Naa pere kanyakumari…’ of Mumaith Khan scored big by mass audiences
Highlights:
* Music by Devi Sri
* Energy levels in Mumaith Khan’s number
Disappointments:
* No Comedy- Brahmanandam’s presence added fuel to the pain instead of bringing laughs
* Weak narration- The need of unearthing the black money from crooked rich hasn’t conveyed with right spirit
* Poor Editing- No frame sustains for more than 2-3 seconds and that cause huge disturbance to eyes and audience feel it difficult to get connected to screen
* Substandard Cinematography- For the budget incurred on movie, the camera would have captured things better
* Worst Fight Sequences- Needless to say
* Length of the movie- It’s really a longest torture with 3 hr 10 minutes.
Analysis:
Telugu audiences have seen films like Azaad, Bharateeyudu etc with the kind of Robihhood elements. Mallanna also falls in that wagon. Concept is ok. But the execution is very bad.
Mallanna’s character was carved with the inspiration of Batman but that didn’t gel well with the taste of majority Telugu audiences. Eccentricities were seen in the character with the get up of Cock. The concepts of this sort sound better when dealt with convincing scenes those are close to reality. Although cinema liberties can be taken they cannot be of this extreme.
Romance part is very weak in the movie and that is another big minus. Shriya was given a tomboyish type of character and she could justify up to that.
On a whole, the movie is a disappointment and didn’t meet the expectations.

Mallanna (Kanthaswamy) (2009) Telugu Movie Review by Bharatstudent |
Film: MALLANNAA
Rating: 2/5
Banner: V Creations
Cast: Vikram, Shriya, Ashish Vidyarthi, Krishna, Prabhu, Brahmanandam, Mumaith Khan, Y G Mahendran and others
Music: Devisri Prasad
Cinematography: Ekambaram
Director: Susi Ganeshan
Producer: Kalaipuli S Thanu
Release Date: August 21, 2009
Story:
A boring tale, the story begins with Mallanna (vikram) who works with the economic offences wing of the CBI. He decides to do his own form of justice and takes up the form of 'Mallanna' in the night and resolves people's problems. In this process, he tends to loot the rich and distribute the money to the poor. During one such instant, he does the same to the wealthy PPP (ashish) and this upsets his only daughter Subbalakshmi (Shriya). She decides to take revenge and tries to woo Vikram but in vain. He realizes her moves but in no time they fall in love. Meanwhile, DIG Parantham (prabhu) investigates this story of Mallanna and slowly uncovers the identity. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
The director has come up with a normal storyline and both the presentation and the narrative was pathetic. The dialogues were dull, the script was haphazard and the screenplay was weak. Background score was alright and so were the songs but cinematography was terrible. Editing was absolutely poor. Costumes were trendy and the locations were good, art department did a fabulous job. Coming to the cast, Vikram looked handsome and did his bit well while Shriya looked scorching hot, Ashish Vidyarthi was alright, Prabhu was regular, Krishna was standard, Brahmanandam was a waste, the others didn't do much to save the movie.
Conclusion:
The film came up with a good hype but it was a poor and weak presentation. While the first half takes off on a regular mode, there is nothing in the second half to actually engage the audience. The romance track was missing, comedy was absent and the film was aloof from the audience. This will be a hard one to catch among the mass or the class, the frames were terribly short timed and caused visual stress. This will fizzle at the box office as there is nothing the Telugu audience can actually relish.
Bharatstudent Verdict : Utter disappointment!!
