The Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce has imposed a ban of six months on ace director S.S. Rajamouli on June 8 on the basis of a complaint filed by the producer Chanti Addala.
The producer claims that he paid Rs. 5 lakh as advance payment in 2002 to direct a film, but the film was never started due to unknown reasons. Hence he asked Rajamouli to repay the amount along with interest for the period, but there was no proper reply from the director. It is heard that Rajamouli should pay a total of Rs. 25 lacs with an interest of 36% per year.
Film Chamber announced that no one should cooperate with Rajamouli for six months. It is known that Rajamouli has decided to react strongly with the support of directors' association.
The director is busy with producer-distributer Allu Arvind's much-hyped Ram Charan Teja starrer Magadheera, which is slated for release on July 9. Magadheera may be delayed if the new controversy between the producer and the director continues unresolved.
