WILL RAMBHA STICK TO HER WORD?

Rambha is one of the longest standing actresses in Tollywood. She has been in the industry now for almost two decades. This is no mean achievement as heroines nowadays last hardly for two or three years.

Rambha ruled the roost in Tollywood for some time before leaving for greener pastures in Kollywood, Bollywood and Bhojpuri. She has made several bids to comeback in Tollywood but with mixed success.

She recently said that if she did not make it big with the film 'Dongasacchinollu' she would make a final goodbye to acting. The film is now a flop. So will Rambha now stick to her word and quit films once and for all?

Story: A regular entertainer, the story begins with Ramudu (Raghu Babu) and Kamudu (Krishna Bhagawan) in the village of Poduru near Rajahmundry. They are more like imbeciles and their acts often land them in trouble but then they are attached to their uncle (Chandramohan) and aunty (Telangana Sakuntala) who bring them up like their own children. They also have a darling sister who gets married to Jagadish Prasad (Vinod Kumar) who lives in the US and after many years they come back to Hyderabad and start a business. The sister comes to village and takes both Ramudu and Kamudu along with her to the city for a better lifestyle. She also has the intention of getting one of them married to her only daughter Kavya (Rambha). Unfortunately, when Jagadish Prasad decides to give the ownership to Kavya, his partners betray him and they end up with nothing. In that stress, he drives rashly and ends up meeting with an accident and both Jagadish and his wife get killed. With nothing left for them, Ramudu and Kamudu come back to the village along with Kavya and decide to give her the best of life. Meanwhile, they hear about a letter written by their dead sister which referred to Kavya's marriage with one of them and from then on they start putting their best foot forward to win her heart. Who is the winner forms the rest of the story. On the sidetrack, there is Midatha (Venu Madhav), Stalin (Brahmanandam), Konda (Kondavalasa) adding their bit to the story.
A very predictable subject with nothing special to offer, the director has presented in a very boring manner and the narration is aloof. Though the background score and one or two beats were good, not very special tunes are there. Editing could have been a lot better, the script was stale and the screenplay had no significant role to play. The camera was okay and captured the foreign locales and the village scenes as per standards. The movie looked a lot in favor of Raghu Babu as his screen presence was felt strongly while Krishna Bhagawan was in the back seat with his regular witty lines. The comeback efforts of Rambha may not help her as the role was limited and there was no real need for her to come up with any powerful scenes, however she still has some charm left in her. L B Sriram was good with his comedy along with Venu Madhav, Brahmanandam looked artificial. Rajeev Kanaka had only three lines in total. The library scenes showing NTR, ANR, Krishna was heart rendering but the print was poor. The others like Vinod Kumar, Jayaprakash Reddy were okay.

If entertainment was the key, then the film maker must ensure that there is a lot of pace in the script along with some really rib tickling comedy. The first half was dull and lacked the speed, the second half looked a bit with momentum but lost its connection with unwanted scenes of comedy and songs. It is really very hard for the movie to make its money which was evident from the theatres showing only 40% attendance on the opening day.

RAMBHA PROFILE

Vijaya Lakshmi is an Indian film actress. She was born on June 5,1976. She is from Vijayawada, A.P. Her first screen name was Amritha but changed to Rambha. She has acted in over 100 South Indian films and also in a number of Bollywood films.She had done several successful films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Bengali. She was popular in Bollywood movies for her uncanny resemblance towards Divya Bharati, an actress who died during her popular stint in Bollywood. She is also squint-eyed and considers it a lucky charm.

Career

Rambha's career started with a Telugu film "Aa Okkati Adakku" directed by E.V.V Sathyanarayana in 1993.In 1992 starred in Malayalam film Sargam opposite Vineeth. She again paired up with Vineeth in Champakulam Thachan. She then entered Bollywood and was paired up with popular heroes like Chiranjeevi, Rajnikanth, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty, Govinda etc.

Rambha started her career as a producer with help of her brother for Three Roses in which Jyothika, Laila and Rambha are the three lead character. This film is copy of the famous Hollywood movie Charlie's Angles. During the shooting of this movies she fought with Jyothika regarding remuneration. Finally this film became a big flop and Rambha could not recover from the loss. She also sold her house in Chennai to the financiers to come out from the debts. Presently she is limited for item songs only. Rambha has acted in several languages and maintained a successful balance in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali etc. She is currently concentrating on Bhojpuri films. Her latest film in Malayalam titled Paayum Puli in 2007 is getting good reviews. Her career is a very successful one, dominating all the languages that she has acted in. She got the opportunity to pair up with the top actors of all languages which she acted. Most of her movies are successful. She has acted two Bengali films and now she has three Hindi films in her kitty.

She is currently doing a role of Mango Dolly in Shashak Ghosh's Tamil Flick " Quick Gun Murugan". 'Quick Gun Murugan' spoof series on Channel V, the brainchild of the channel creative head Shashanka Ghosh. Now he is directing the small screen ht in to a film with the same name 'Quick Gun Murugan'.

This film sports Rajendra Prasad in the title role flaunting a cowboy get up. Telugu and Tamil film actress Rambha plays the role of a blonde. Nassar plays the role of villain. The main theme of the film is said to be the fight between vegetarianism and non-vegetarianism. Quick Gun Murugan vows to save cows because he thinks he is a cowboy where are Nassar play the role of the owner of a fast-food restaurant that promotes beef eating.
