Gopichand's GOLIMAAR (2010) Telugu Movie Review by Greatandhra |
Film: Golimaar
Rating: 2.5/5
Banner: Sri Sai Ganesh Productions
Cast: Gopichand, Priyamani, Kelly Dorjee, Nasser, Roja, Ali, Mukhtar Khan, MS Narayana, Shawar Ali, Jeeva etc
Music: Chakri
Cinematographer: Shyam K Naidu
Editor: Marthand K Venkatesh
Story, dialogues, screenplay, direction: Puri Jagannadh
Producer: Bellamkonda Suresh
Release date: 27/05/2010
Puri Jagannadh has arrived with yet another venture and this time, he has taken the line of encounter specialists.
Gangaram (Gopi) fulfills his childhood ambition of becoming a police officer and in no time, DIG Bharath (Nasser) promotes him to an encounter specialist. He tells Gangaram to wipe away the gangs of Khaleel (Kelly Dorjee) and Saleem (Shavar Khan). Gangaram begins his clean up task and in this process; he also gets to meet Pavitra (Priyamani). However, there is a twist which awaits him and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Gopichand has done his bit as required and he is only saving grace in the movie. He looks rather mild this time. But then, he has done a decent job.
Priyamani is not good and she looked with over dosed layers of make up that made her unattractive.
Kelly Dorjee has sharp looks but as usual, the characterization of the villain is not that strong. Being a powerful don, he ends up behaving like a small time ring leader in a slum.
Nasser was natural, Roja was disgusting, Ali was not required, Mukhtar Khan was just around, M S Narayana was average, Jeeva, Shawar Khan and others filled the screen space.
Here are a few vital points that the director should understand:
Comedy should be dosed well for this genre of films
Care should be taken at the placement of songs
How may times the story of Dayanayak will be recycled? People have watched Ab Tak Chappan and Sidhdham
Heroine should be glamorous and lovable but not irritable

The film is said to have been inspired by the life of Daya Naik, the famous encounter specialist. However, one can see traces of top cops like Walter Devaram (Tamil nadu), Pradeep Sharma (Mumbai), Aftab Ahmed Khan etc. But then, this is a serious domain that deals with hardcore criminals and life threatening situations.
And Puri ended up treating it like a filmy affair. Movies like ‘Ab Tak Chappan’ always stand as benchmarks for such genre of movies. The intensity was missing here, dialogues were regular and were good at very few places, the script was not engaging. Above all, Puri is known for his master stroke and unfortunately, there is no flash of brilliance seen in the film that makes you think that yes, it is indeed a film by him. He tried to bring in some twists but they weren’t presented with required depth.

"Sambho Siva Sambho" Review by Early Tollywood |

Movie: Sambho Siva Sambho
Rating: 3.5/5
Director: Samuthirakarani
Producer: Bellamkonda Suresh

Cast: Ravi Teja, Allari Naresh, Siva Balaji, Priya Mani, Sunil, Abhinaya, Tanikella Bharani, Ahuti Prasad, Chandra Mohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Mukesh Rushi, Roja, Surya Teja, Samuthirakarani.

Review:
I have been very eagerly waiting for the release of this movie as I watched the Tamil version "Nadodigal" already and liked it very much. Frankly I was very eager to watch Naresh, as the actor played in the tamil version itself did very well and if you see the movie in Tamil you will just imagine Naresh if you want to remake the movie in Telugu. As I thought, Naresh played the same role. Apparently I happened to see the review before I went to the movie and saw a bad rating by many sites and thought that director might have mishandled the movie in telugu. But no, its a blunder and laughed at the ignorance of our many website owners' taste (need not to say the names, now a days they are becoming very busy in distributing movies abroad). I really look forward to see some good reviews from them.
Coming to the movie review, I dont want to tell the story which damages the very essence of seeing the movie in theaters. But making a few points involving the highlights of the movie can bring some enthusiasm. And some hiccups too.
Highlights of the movie:
1) Naresh. Naresh. Naresh. Sambho Siva Sambho Siva Siva Sambho. If you remember anything the most after watching the movie its the background score and Naresh. Shankar Mahadevan takes you to the top of Mt.Everest. Naresh has become a classic hero. He creates the impression that if not Naresh Who can?
2) Samuthirakarani (Director): No doubt he can be one of the best directors. Though he did not change anything from Tamil to Telugu, but kept the movie as best as possible. But the first 20 minutes of the movie was boring. Generally Telugu comedy stands far apart in quality when compared to Tamil comedy. So the tamil comedy was outdated. And not only directing the movie, he also acted in the movie as one of the friends.
Photography was top class by Muthaiah. The wide angle scenes were just awesome.
3) Ravi Teja has already proved Talent never fails. As usually he did absolutely well and gave us a break from his recent routine KICK action. The role was played by Sasi Kumar in Tamil, who was the director of Subramaniapuram (Ananthapuram 1980 in Telugu). Samuthirakarani was the villain in Subramaniapuram.
4) Abhinaya played the same role she did in Tamil. She looked beautiful and no doubt can become a good actress. When I said my friends that she is deaf and dumb they all were awestruck and were feeling How the hell can she give such a lip sync and feelings. Our Imported heroines should learn how to give lip sync. When you watch some lengthy scenes in some movies where our imported heroines act..WHOAAAA you feel What the frock she is telling some Hindi dialogue man...
Way to go Abhinaya.
5) Siva Balaji is Ok. Sunil did as usually good. Surya teja was good for the role.
6) Chandra Mohan, Ahuthi Prasad, Kota and Tanikella did an easy job. Mukesh Rushi was Ok.
Hiccups:
1) The first 20 minutes of the movie.
2) Editing was worst and frustrates many a times.
3) Priya Mani tried to over act. The actress in Tamil was very cute and did brilliantly. Roja was not upto the mark.
On the whole,
It was a great relief from routine Telugu movies and worth watching if you value friendship.Though You get negative response from your friends Dont miss to watch the movie. Watch the movie just for NARESH's top class act and the Interval Scene.

Jagapathi Babu's PRAVARAKYUDU (2009) Movie Review by Greatandhra |

Film: Pravarakhyudu
Rating: 3/5
Banner: Tolly 2 Holly Films
Cast: Jagapathi Babu, Priyamani, Hamsa Nandini, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Ali, Chalapathi Rao, Dharmavarapu, Rajyalakshmi and others
Music: M M Keeravani
Cinematography: Surender Reddy
Editing: M R Varma
Director: Madan
Producer: Ganesh Indukuri
Release date: 4th Dec 2009
Prime star Jagapathi Babu and Priyamani are being known as the ideal pair of Tollywood and here they are with a new movie that is meant to be a different love story and an entertainer. Let us see if it was impressive or not.
Story:
Sasi Kumar (Jagapathi) and Shailaja (Priyamani) study in the same college and though they are of opposite natures Shailaja gets attracted to Sasi. However, he doesn’t believe in love and Shailaja is disgusted with him. They get into their lives separately.
Years pass and Sasi becomes a noted name in his field of Zoological studies. He leaves Harvard job and comes to join a girl’s college as a lecturer. The principal of that college is Shailaja.
Why did he come to this college? Will their love rekindle? Will ‘no love’ factor transforms to ‘full love’? All this forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Jagapathi Babu:
He has carried out his role with ease and the scenes where he is shown as a student, he looked too puffed up. Performance wise, it was a normal walk in the park so not much to be said.
Priyamani
She has done her job perfectly in terms of glamour and performance department, though she looks more sensuous in the Indian outfits, Priyamani was seen in all varieties. Two emotional scenes were good from her.
Hamsa Nandini
She has a brief presence and looks hot. As is the custom, she was given with a song and she has not disappointed.
Sunil
Though his role was small, he managed to come up with good laughter from the audience.
Others
Brahmanandam was regular, Dharmavarapu was effective, Ali failed to impress. Chalapathi Rao, Rajyalakshmi and other senior actors came up with the standard performances to add value to the film.
Highlights:
* Content in plot
* Music
* Cinematography
* Picturization of songs
Limitations:
* Jagapathi Babu touching the tummies of young girls while teaching music is not convincing but confusing and appeared ‘extra’!
* Girls’ getting carried away by charms of Jagapathi Babu is repetitive
* Lion episode is not well-fitting although pictured with good technique
* Ali’s comedy turned mere waste
* The climax scene where students and staff hold placards recommending love was ridiculous.
Analysis:
The director has come up with a simple tale of relationships and with a message that each has their own outlook depending on their experiences. The dialogues were simple but they could have added more depth, script was okay and screenplay was good during the first half. Comedy was not that much and editing was neat.
Costumes and art department made their presence felt. Full marks to cinematography and background score. The songs were captured really sensuous and though they were not situational, the picturization made up for it.
There were few silly things that the director could have avoided to make things look mature. Overall, the film relied heavily on the screenplay and due to that, the first half went smoothly without much complaint. However, the second half fizzled out and got dragged with unwanted songs and weak comedy. The climax should have been etched out with more impact to drive the message. The mass will like the songs and the family audience might find the narrative appealing barring a few elements of erratic script.
Bottom Line: Ok for family audience and ladies

Balakrishna's MITRUDU Movie Review by Bharatstudent |

Rating : 2.5/5
Banner : Vaishnavi Cinema
Cast : Balakrishna, Priyamani, Ranganath, Pradeep Rawath, Chandramohan, Deepak, Krishna Bhagawan, Balaiah, Brahmanandam, Hema, Chalapathi Rao Others and Others
Music : Mani Sharma
Cinematography : Balamurugan
Producer: Sivalenka Krishna Prasad
Director: Mahadev
Released Date: May 01, 2009
Story:
An emotional tale, the story begins in the backdrop of Malaysia where Indu (Priyamani) is studying and she is on the lookout for a man who has a particular horoscope since she has a 'dosham' in it. Apparently, the man who marries her would die in one month and Indu wants to marry Madhu (Deepak) after that. She finds her solution in the form of Aditya (Balakrishna) who is waiting for death to come to him. She tries, woos and finally manages to win his heart and both of them get married. However, in India, her father Sai Krishna (Ranganath) does not approve of this and ill treats Aditya. He also develops enmity with the minister Muni Swamy (Pradeep) who decides to ruin him. In between all this, Indu starts developing feelings for Aditya but then he has a tragic past that is discovered later. What happens after that? This must be watched in the theatres.
Presentation:
The director has come up with a normal storyline but then the presentation was neat whereas the narrative could have been better. The dialogues were average, the script was written with few flaws and the screenplay was apt. The music department was impressive and three songs can be taken home while cinematography was also neat. Editing did its job with standard and costumes were trendy. The locations were well chosen and other departments need no mention here. Balakrishna has come up in a rather different image makeover and instead of being his fiery self, he was rather self contained and passive. Priyamani was hot as usual but looked more attractive in Sarees and traditional outfits. Pradeep Rawat was evil as usual, Chandramohan was a surprise, Brahmanandam managed few laughs, Ranganath was graceful, Balaiah looked elegant, Krishna Bhagawan made his presence felt, Deepak was handsome and he did justice to his role. The others did their bit as per the standard.
Conclusion:
The film is more of an emotional treat and though the first half was quite mild, things begin to change during the second half and there is a momentum. However, the climax was quite normal and there was nothing special to cause an impact. The makers could have utilized the first half in a better way to create some excitement and also Balayya's character could have been etched in a much stronger way which did not happen. The film will appeal to the masses and the family audience to an extent.
Verdict : Sentimental treat, can be watched once
