The much awaited Siddham with the story of an encounter specialist has arrived today. Let us see how it appealed to audiences.

Story:

Dayanand (Jagapathi Babu) is an encounter specialist who gets the accolades from higher authorities for his sincere and dedicated service. He plucks out many anti social elements from the society.

But he faces trouble with some antagonists and loses peace in his personal life and loses his beloved. How he takes revenge on enemies becomes rest of the story.

Will he use brain or brawn to complete his mission? That has to be watched on screen.

Performances:

Jagapathi Babu has excelled in his performance as encounter specialist. His physical appearance and bearing have perfectly matched for his role.

Sindhu Menon is adequate in her role as a Tamilian wife to the lead.

Subba Raju and Shiva Prasad have appeared in guest roles with right and expressive performance. Subtle humor was delivered by Narsing Yadav and Mukul Dev in a few scenes.

Editing is crisp and cinematography is also sensible. The only point-down in the film is the necessary entertainment quotient that's required for mass Telugu audiences. Otherwise it's a right attempt by JD Chekravarthy.

Analysis:

It's straight lift from Hindi film 'Ab Tak Chappan' and the subtlety is maintained in bringing it to nativity. There are no grandiloquent dialogues and artificial glue to mafia characters and police. Every dialogue and scene is up to the requirement and there is nothing more and nothing less. Director should be appreciated in that aspect.

It is true that the films of this sort receive right acclaim from class audiences but the entertainment quotient that is required for repeated audiences in Tollywood is missing here. There are no songs and separate comedy track. Comedy is intertwined in narration with little humor. It is also true that the film might have got corrupted with that extra-stuff if added unnecessarily. Sometimes, equations cannot be balanced on both the sides.

Apart from this, Nana Patekar's role in Hindi is played by Jagapathi Babu in Telugu. Nana Patekar's body language and harshness pervade entire content when he plays lead role. That brings in more strength in narration and pulls the attention of audiences in better way. But Jagapathi Babu has some softness in his body language and aura and hence the intensity will be lesser when compared to that of Nana Patekar. That makes the difference anyway.

On a whole, it's an appreciable attempt by JD Chekravarthy. Only the patronage of mass audiences would decide the box office fate of this flick. It's a perfect suit to be in multiplex.

Remake Sentiment for 'Homam' Kirankumar

Producer Koneru Kiran Kumar who recently produced hit movie Homam with Jagapathi Babu and JD Chakravarthy in the lead roles is now getting ready to produce another movie. While Homam is remade from english film The Departed, Kiran Kumar this time is going to re-make the recent hit hindi film A Wednesday in telugu.

‘A Wednesday’ is a bollywood blockbuster with Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles. The movie which was critically acclaimed and enjoyed by the audience made a clean sweep in the charts.

Kirankumar Koneru who is going to produce the film in Telugu on Shreya Productions banner, earlier venture was ‘Homam’ casting Jagapathi Babu, in JD Chakravarthy’s direction. It could be the movie’s success or sentimental issues the producer has signed up JD Chakravarthy once again to direct the remake of ‘A Wednesday’.

Kiran Kumar Koneru recently bought the remake rights of A Wednesday from UTV. The cast and crew for the telugu film are yet to be announced. Kiran is right now producing another movie titled Moksha with Jagapathi Babu in the lead role while JD Chakravarthy is directing it.

JD Fractured His Rib During an Action Sequence In Sarvam

J D Chakravarthy, who was introduced as hero by none other than Ram Gopal Varma made a comeback after a long hibernation. In his second innings, he chose to direct films and his latest release was a Tollywood flick titled Homam. The actor who is playing a negative role in Vishnuvardhan’s forthcoming Tamil film Sarvam with Arya on Tuesday met with an accident at Munar where the unit has camping. The director was canning a fight sequence with Arya and Chakravarthy with stunt master Thyagarajan giving instructions to them. On a particular shot, the timing got messed up and J D Chakravarthy was badly hurt on his chest. The actor was crying out in pain.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in the town and was administered a first aid. Later, doctors suspected a fracture in the ribs and the actor was asked to take rest. The shooting was cancelled for the day and his portions may be resumed after a gap, said a unit hand who was present at the locale. J. D Chakravarthy is also said to be the villain of Shankar’s movie Robot with Superstar Rajinikanth, although an official announcement is yet to be made.

HOMAM is an action packed entertainer which is scraped from the Hollywood movie ‘The Departed’. The script has been treated differently and some new life is added to the old story.

Homam Story

The story begins with the initiative of two different young men with dissimilar frame of minds. Mallikarajun (Jagapathi Babu) has a dream to become a police officer and another person named Chandrashekar (JD Chakravarthy) is against the police and their autocracies.

Malli has a background that he is a son of a unlawful person. So while he is taking training for the selection into police department, this truth is witnessed by the officers and he looses the spot to get selected into the police department. The reason for Chandu’s hatred against the police is due to the point that hi father is killed in an encounter by the cops.

Seeing the fire to become the police cop in the eyes of Malli, Vishwanatham (Pradeep rawat) appoints him as a police cop working under cover after giving him the necessary training.

Chandu is groomed well by Jawahar alias daddy (Mahesh Manjrekar) and is sent into the police department as an informer to the criminals. Since he hates the police department, Jawahar makes him a pawn of criminals in the disguise of a cop.

Meanwhile, Malli is assigned a duty to trace out the criminals in Jawahar’s gang and he joins them as a member of the gang.

Malli sincerely does his duty and informs the cops about Jawahar and his moments. This is discovered by jawahar and the hunt to outline out the offender in the gang starts.

The love track runs simultaneously for Malli as Dr. Lakshmi (Mamta) and a pretty girl Satya (Madhurima) fall for the two heroes.

Who ends whom? And what happens to the two heroes is the conclusion which has to be seen on the big screen.

Homam Performances

Jagapathi as an action packed hero does his best to suit the role. His rough looks on his face are apt for his role and his punching dialogue delivery captures the minds of the audience.

JD eases into his role and acts naturally as a cop and also as an informer to the criminals.

Mamta Mohan Das is limited to the songs and a scene. Her rain song with Jagapathi is worth appraisable as her body beauty is well capitalized in the song. She looks awesome in a blue sari.

Madhurima gets a petite role and is like a glam doll to JD.

Pradeep Rawat has done his cop role very well. His villainous character till date in the Telugu films was choked with the strict officer role in this film.

Mahesh Manjrekar gives his 100% to the film.

The comedy track lead by MS and Bhagwan is not up to the mark. It manages to raise some tickles.

Sakshi Sivanand is seen in an items song. It is noteworthy that mass audience will peep into the theatres only for Mamta’s skin show and Sakshi’s latkas and Jhatkas.

The film ends on a happy note as Jagapathi is appointed to work as an under cover cop in Pakistan to nab dreaded criminal Dawood Ibrahim.

Conclusion

The film is a total lift from the Hollywood blockbuster 'The Departed' and though this cannot be compared to the original since it is miles away in terms of performance and presentation, the film has made a good attempt. While the first half goes at full speed not leaving an inch of space to breathe, it is the second half when the momentum goes down suddenly and sentiment angle pours in which has spoiled the rhythm. The screenplay will not be understood by the audience if they miss out a scene or two. There is nothing for the mass audience in this so commercially it will not be a major success but technically a well made film and will definitely make profits out of this venture for its new approach.

Homam On August 28

Mamta mohan das who is on clod nine these days as her role in ‘Kathnayakudu’ is said to be interesting and is fetching good reviews. Though it is a cameo role, the juncture in which, the role gets inserted into the film, is said to be applauding.

‘HOMAM’ is the next film of Mamta Mohan das as a full fledged heroine and it is already a known fact that she has done some steamy scenes with Jagapathi babu in this film. A rain song will reveal Mamta’s inner wear in the film, which is said to heat up the pants of her male fans, when the film gets screened on the silver screen.

Dil Raju has purchased the total rights of the film and the music releases will be done on 3rd august in AD labs studios. Ram Gopal varma, who is a mentor of JD Chakravarthi will release the audio of this film. JD chakravarthi, who happens to be the director, was alleged to sexually harass Mamta Mohan Das during the shooting of this film in February. But as time passed this gossip was suppressed in the industry as Mamta was not in a position to reveal any facts about it.

ROBOT'S STAR CAST

Director Shankar is getting ready with his prestigious project Robot with Rajini and Aishwarya. Telugu hero and director JD Chakravarthy is doing the main Villain's role in the film.

Now Shankar is getting signed the agreement with all star cast of the film. JD is said to have signed for one year call sheets for Robot.

On the other hand, it is also heard that Amithabh will appear in a short role.The film will go on floors very soon for regular shoot.

J.D. Chakravarthy, born in 1964 and often called J.D. by close friends and known as Chakravarthi by the Telugu film audience, marked his debut in Ram Gopal Verma's debut blockbuster Shiva (film) as a fellow student named J.D. After that, he played a supporting role in a Malayalam film, Ennodishtam Koodamo, before devoting all his time to films under his mentor's, Ram Gopal Verma's direction and production. He starred in some telugu films directed and/or produced by Ram Gopal Verma before Satya, his first Hindi film as a hero and his most prominent role to date, blasted on screens in July 3rd, 1998. Satya was critically-acclaimed, though criticized for its gruesome depiction of violence. It was touted to be one of the most underrrated films in Bollywood history and Ram Gopal Verma's truest and finest masterpiece to date.

After Satya, he did a few Telugu films including 'Kasi' and 'Maa Pelliki Randi' which flopped miserably at the box office.
