Kajal Agarwal and Meera Jasmine in Lady Oriented Films

Kajal Agarwal In & As CHANDI:

The latest Tollywood sensation Kajal Agarwal, who won the hearts of several young fans with her glamour and performance in Ram Charan Teja's recent blockbuster Magadheera, will play the lead role in a forthcoming heroine-oriented film titled Chandi which reportedly gives her great scope for performance. The film will start rolling in December.

A socio-fantasy-cum-graphical extravaganza like Arundhati, Chandi will be directed by Kodi Ramakrishna of Arundhati fame and produced by M.S. Raju with a whopping budget. M.S. Raju and Kodi Ramakrishna had earlier teamed up for Devi Putrudu, starring Venkatesh. Details of Chandi's remaining cast and crew will be revealed very soon.


Meera Jasmine's MOKSHA:

National award winning actress Meera Jasmine, popularly known as a homely heroine, is all set to undergo a complete makeover!

According to reports, for the first time in her career, Meera Jasmine will be seen as the lead lady of a Telugu horror movie tentatively titled Moksha to be directed by Srikanth Vemulapalli and produced by P. Amarnath under the banner of Amarnathan Movies.

The makers said they signed Meera Jasmine after thoroughly studying her body language and looks. Rajeev Mohan is playing a crucial role in this film which will go on sets on November 11 in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The second schedule will commence in Chennai.

Charming star Srikanth came up with his 101st movie and this was on floors since a long time. Whether it was worth the wait or not, let us see.


Story:

Chandram (Srikanth) is an honest man and a devoted husband to Kalyani (Meera). His life takes a turn when he discovers that Kalyani has a rare disease and he has to get money. A sequence of events compels him to act as husband to Ramya (Sada) who is thought dead. However, Ramya comes back alive and now Chandram is caught between both women. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Srikanth
Srikanth has come up with his performance as usual and he has done these several times before so nothing new from his end. However, his presence on posters after ‘Mahatma’ would add as a crowd puller to the theatre.

Meera Jasmine
She looks cute as usual and will appeal to the lady audience. However, she must try not to come up with western outfits in song sequences and that too figure hugging ones. It just doesn’t go with her.


Sada
She is sexy and makes up for the glamour quotient in a large way. Despite wearing regular outfits, she still has that oomph in her. Performance wise, she did justice to her role.

Others
Tanikella was standard, Sunil gave good laughs, Brahmanandam was okay, Ali was hilarious, Kovai Sarala was loud, Raghu Babu was a bit annoying, Krishna Bhagawan was witty and funny as well, M S was good, the others did as required.

Analysis:

The film has got every possible comedian in the Tollywood circuit but then the director has not been able to create a laugh riot out of it. The main drawback was the stale storyline which would have fitted the 80s time.


Also, the title conveys a comedy film but there is a strong dose of sentiment and melodrama which downs the enthusiasm. There is not much depth to the characters due to the weak script and there are not many moments when the audience can connect to the film.

There are few sparks of comedy here and there but overall, the film is not that appealing due to the tasteless flavor of the storyline. Except for Sada’s glamour, Sunil and Ali’s comedy, there is not much one can enjoy in this flick.

The film ‘Vinayakudu’ was a major success and this has led to the sequel of the film ‘Village Lo Vinayakudu’. The expectations are obviously high on this one and whether they have been met or not, let us see.


Story:

Set on the backdrop of a village, the story is about Karthik (Krishnudu) a teacher in Hyderabad and it is love at first sight for him when he sees Kavya (Saranya) a doctor. She lives with her father Colonel Laxmipathi (Rao Ramesh), an ex-serviceman at their village and one day Karthik lands at their door confessing his love and asking for Kavya’s hand. Her father strictly retaliates and from then on, Karthik begins his efforts to win the hearts of Kavya’s father and her family. Meanwhile Col Laxmipathi’s friend (Yandamoori Veerendranath) makes attempts to separate Karthik from Kavya. Is he successful or not forms the rest.


Performances:

Krishnudu
Yet again, he has come up with a good performance and not many challenges for him in this one. He has done his best in carrying the film on his shoulders throughout and did a fairly good job. His body language and few dialogues bring smiles and make him look much cuter and perfect.

Saranya Mohan
She is looking sweet and her performance is also good. She has got wonderful photogenic features and for the role she suited best. She certainly loots many hearts with her cute expressions and naughty smiles.


Rao Ramesh
He has done justice to the role and has come up with some highlight dialogues and catchy scenes. This is a different character he has done unlike his earlier movies and he makes his presence felt. He is trying to imitate Prakash Raj knowingly or unknowingly in some scenes and that should be avoided.

Yendamuri Veerendranath
He has given few stiff expressions in front of the camera. But his character is interesting although little.

Bharat Reddy
Though he had a brief presence, he gave his best shot and there are few places where he made his presence felt very well.

Analysis:

This is the sincere attempt by the director, and he scores good encomiums from all sectors of audiences. He has knitted the movie with all dexterities that a hero should possess. It is an eye opener for many directors those are showing heroes as smugglers, professional killers, thieves and robbers. The film condemns ‘ridiculing mythology’ which should be underlined. That’s a good lesson.

It is the effort that really appeals as it is made with honesty and sincerity. The film is a clean flick and it has enough ingredients to appeal to the family audience but then it doesn’t have that sort of momentum and pace.

There are no idle moments due to its good presentation. Background score was ok, songs were worth, picturization was top notch. While the first half is quite mild, it is not until the second half that the real tempo begins. Overall, the film is good in parts but could have been better. So it can be appreciated for its efforts than anything else.
