BHANU PRIYA



Bhanu Priya Born on January 15, 1967 was a famous leading actress of the Telugu film industry and Kollywood from 1980 to 1993. She also acted in Bollywood in the 1990s. She is now living in United States teaching Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi, the two famous South Indian classical dances. She had acted in over 111 films as an heroine. She is known as the 'other Sridevi'.

Career

Bhanupriya had her debut in the Telugu movie Sitara directed by veteran Vamsi, which was a big hit. She had acted as a heroine in over 25 Telugu films, around 30 films in Tamil and also 14 Hindi films and a few Malayalam films.Known to be an expert in classical dances;in fact all her critically acclaimed movies were based on the subject of classical dance;like Vamsi's "Sitara" and veteran Kasinadhuni Viswanath's "Swarnakamalam" in Telugu and Sathyan Anthikkad's Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in Malayalam.She is also part of Mani Ratnam's stage show "Netru, Indru, Naalai".

Family

Bhanupriya married Adarshkoushal, an award-winning photographer based in the United States and son of famous Bharatanatyam artist Sumathikoushal in United States. They later divorced. They have a daughter.

Miscellanea

Bhanupriya is now in Chennai and planing to direct a film , with classical dance as lead role. She also acted in a television Serial Shakthi , shown over in Sun Network channels. Her sister Shantipriya also acted in several films with moderate success. She is famous for her expressions using her eyes , which led her to a career in modelling. Her most famous ad was of Eyetex, a popular eyeliner. She is currently working on "Devathalu" (Telugu) , "Oru Ponnu Oru Paiyan" , "Theekuchi" , "Polladhavan", "Porantha veeda pukuntha veeda"(TV serial) in Tamil. Cinematographer and director P.C.Sriram once described her as having the most beautiful and photogenic face among south Indian movie actresses.
