About Movie
Ooty in Tamil Nadu, was the most favored outdoor location for our film-makers. This hill station on Niligiri hills was so popular that it became an un-written norm of Telugu Cinema to shoot at least few songs there.

But the locations and facilities available in the queen of hill stations were little known to our film fraternity till Annapoorna Pictures first shot its super-hit film Mangalya Balam there. The top honchos of Annapoorna Pictures---Duggipati Madhusudhana Rao, Adurthi Subba Rao, and A.N.R. --- were apparently spellbound by its beauty during their pilot visit and thought of shooting a significant portion of this film in a months schedule. But after shooting the famous Vaadina Poolee Vikasinchanee song on the lead pair (A.N.R. and Savithri), the unit had to leave the hill station because of the adverse weather. But the unit did not return to Ooty again as planned as Savithri was carrying by the time the weather returned to normalcy.

Trivia:
*Mangalya Balam is based on a Bengali Novel Agnipariksha written by Aasaapoorna Devi.

* Manzhil Mahimai is the title for the films Tamil version.

*Mangalya Balam is Annapoornas second bilingual film, the first being Thodi Kodallu (Yengal Veettu Mahalakshmi in Tamil).

* The 100 days function of this film was held at the Municipal grounds, Vijayawada. Former Chief Minister of the state K.Brahmananda Reddy was the chief-guest. Maruthi Cinema's Poothini Srinivasa Rao co-ordinated the event.

* P.A.P. Subba Rao remade this film in Kannada as " Manava Magalu". Jayalalitha and Kalyana Kumar acted in this.
