Generations of Telugu filmgoers fondly remember the doyen of mythological roles as CSR Anjaneyulu. He immortalised the varied roles that he essayed. The CSR Centenary Celebrations Committee and Kinnera Art Theatres are jointly organising the celebrations on July 11 at the Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, Chikkadapally.

Much before CSR's foray into cinema, his contribution to theatre was immense. His debut role as Lord Krishna in the play Radha Krishna paved way for many memorable roles such as Lord Rama, Ramadasu and Thukaram. He carved a niche for himself in social dramas by donning the roles of Shylock, Gireesham and Bhavani Shankarm. He entered films through Draupadi Vastrapaharana. He catapulted to fame with his distinct style of acting and unique voice skills. Be it the role of Lord Venkateshwara in Venkateshwara Mahathyam or the lead role in Thukaram, CSR's potrayal left the audience with a sense of fulfilment and divine communion. With over 175 movies to his credit, including Chudamani, Sumathi, Thaliprema, Gruhapravesham, Padukapattabhishekam, Jayaprada, Laila Majnu, Ratnamala, Pathaalabhairavi, Chakrapani and importantly, the role of Shakuni inMayabazaar, CSR handled the entire gamut of varied roles with finesse, that was held in awe by his contemporaries and the succeeding generations alike.Filmography
