Nicknamed Andhra Kamal Hassan, Narasimha Raju rose to the heights of stardom with his movies, Needaleni Adadi, Turpu Padamara, Kanyakumari, Idekkadi Nyayam, etc. When things were thus going great for him, he got entangled in a controversy as a result of over enthusiasm, and that affected his career very badly. He asked the producers for a role in 'Satyanarayana Vratha Mahatyam,' but the cast having been already decided, he was offered the hero's role in 'Jaganmohini'. This movie brought about a definite turn in his career. He was considered the folk hero of the generation next to that of NTR and Kantha Rao. 'Jaganmohini' (1978) assured Narasimha Raju of a secure place in the Telugu movie industry for some years.
