Biography:
Meera Jasmine whose original name is Jasmine Mary Joseph is from Kuttapuzha, Thiruvalla, a small town in Kerela. She is the daughter of Joseph Philip and Aleyamma Philip. She is doing her degree in Home Science. Her entry into the film industry was through Malayalam. It was director Lohitadas who introduced her in his Malayalam movie Soothradharan. Meera is a simple and down to earth person. Her choices are also undemanding. Her favorite attire is Half Saree and she loves to look homely. Her concept of love is not love at first sight. She believes in love which comes after understanding each other.
Meera Jasmine was not born into a family of actors. Nobody encouraged her to act or dance during her school days. Unlike other heroines, she is not a 'Kalathilakam' or a model. Before her entry into films, nobody noticed her talent. Her entry into films was quite unexpected. She was introduced by Lohithadas. She was attracted to the industry and accepted a film offer against her father's wishes. Meera joined the industry without much expectations of success. She was ready to go back to her studies if her film did not do well, but the amazing response she received after her debut made her choose acting as her career.
Meera loves music. She is always found with a walkman in her ears. Her favorite singer is Ilayaraja and she adores Ilayaraja's melodies a lot. She also spends her leisure time watching Hindi movies. Meera is a god fearing girl who has a lot of confidence in her. She worships Kollur Mookambika. She is very sincere in her career and gives her best for whatever role she does.
Meera's entry into films was an unexpected one. This talented artist was a very shy natured girl who had not even performed a single stage show during her schooling. She once went watch a film shooting with her friends and director Lohitadas noticed Meera and found out that there was something extraordinary about her and it was through his movie "Soothradharan", she entered the film Industry. The movie was a great hit in Kerela and Meera's performance in the movie was amazing. This paved the way for her entry to the Kollywood and Tollywood. Few of her movies are.
It is reported by media that she will be marrying U. Rajesh, a mandolin artist. Rajesh and Meera have formally confirmed the love they have for each other. Rajesh is the brother of notable mandolin artist U. Srinivas. However, according to Meera Jasmine, she would not marry Rajesh for two years, till her on-going film commitments are over
She offered prayers and paid bow to Lord at Raja Rajeshwara temple at Taliparamba in Kerala where the entry of non-Hindus is prohibited. This lead to a controversy as sparking off a protest by Hindu devotees. Later, she had paid Rs. 10,000 as penalty to the temple authorities.
